Youth programming helps interns learn how to become an effective educator, build a curriculum, and be an emphatheic partner in a project. It allows the interns to have an experience with what being an educator is like as well as explore comfort zones while teaching youth.
Interns in the youth programming cohort worked on developing and delivering a 45-minute curiculum to 3rd-5th graders. To help the interns prepare for their 45-minute curiculum, the interns have met with various educators and guest speakers throughout the course of several weeks to learn about what it's like to teach and create a curriculum. In additon to this, the interns spent time working with their co-teachers to develop their plan. They also created a reflection video about what they thought about youth programming.
